French drinks group Belvédère, which filed for bankruptcy protection in July 2008, has lost protection from creditors after a French court of appeal upheld a ruling that stated the firm had failed to respect the rulings of the original protection plan. Belvédère's creditors could potentially now call in their loans but a more likely scenario is that a new, more stringent agreement will be negotiated.
