US Beer Volumes Continue To Fall As Unemployment And Weak Growth Take Their Toll
August 2011 | Industry Trend AnalysisThe H111 results posted by MillerCoors, the US brewing operation owned jointly by SABMiller and Molson Coors, continues to point to very weak demand within the US beer market. For the six months to the end of June 2011 the firm registered a 3% decline in volumes. This decline in volumes was largely offset by price increases and net sales were down by only 0.1%. Operating profits also increased by 6% year-on-year, thanks to the realisation of synergies from the joint venture and cost reductions.
