Delhaize's Greek Success Is Carrefour's Loss

In an example of the ongoing difficulties faced by retailers in Greece, Carrefour has announced that it will scale back its investment plans in the country. The announcement comes after the firm registered a 6.4% decline in like-for-like sales in the market during the second quarter of 2011. However, in complete contrast Belgium-based retailer Delhaize, which operates the Alfa-Beta chain in the country, has announced plans to up its pace of expansion in the market, after recording strong sales growth in recent quarters.
