Greek And Italian Soft Drink Sectors Have Long-Term Potential Despite Economic Weakness

Across continental Europe consumption of bottled water and soft drinks varies quite widely (see chart). Per capita consumption of bottled water is highest in Italy, but is also high in France, Germany and Spain. Meanwhile, per capita consumption of carbonated soft drinks is particularly high in Germany and Spain but lower in Italy, Greece and France. In Greece consumption of both bottled water and carbonated soft drinks is lower than in other parts of the region, suggesting room for growth given favourable economic conditions.
