Starbucks Opens 500th Latin American Outlet - Much More To Come

US coffee shop chain Starbucks has announced the opening of its 500th outlet in Latin America, demonstrating its steady progress within this high potential market. Starbucks currently operates stores in ten Latin American countries, but the bulk of its stores are currently in Mexico (catering in part to the high number of US tourists). In many Latin American markets coffee consumption is relatively low on a per capita basis. However, in most consumption is gradually expanding in line with increased affluence and the greater availability of high quality coffee.
