Brasil Foods Investing To Take Advantage Of Growing Margarine Consumption

Brazil's largest food firm Brasil Foods has announced that it is to invest BRL140mn in a new margarine plant in the state of Pernambuco. The facility will have capacity to produce eight thousand tonnes of margarine a month (96,000 tonnes per year). This significant investment reflects the rapid growth in margarine sales seen in recent years and also chimes with our positive outlook for the sector (see chart).
