Mexican Supermarket Sales Showing Greater Dynamism

Mexico-based retailer Walmart de Mexico (Walmex) has registered acceleration in its domestic sales for the third quarter of 2011. In the three months to the end of September, Walmex's net sales increased by 11% to reach US$90.5bn. The firm reported that in Mexico it had 'the highest sales growth of the year, both in comparable and total stores'. The firm's domestic revenues growth has been lacklustre this year, which can be attributed to the relatively weak economic backdrop and low credit growth.
