Colombia's Exito Boosted By Thriving Domestic Demand

Colombian retailer Exito has reported strong results for the third quarter of 2011, continuing a run of good figures for the year. For the three months to the end of September the firm registered a 16% increase in revenues, which came in at COP2.02trn, while net profits were up by a hefty 59% to COP58.76bn. Operating income was up by 18.7% to COP74,529. The firm's strong performance can be linked to the dynamism within the Colombian consumer market, which has been partly fuelled by credit expansion and historically low interest
