Greek Wine Boosted By Big Export Deal With China

Greek wine cooperative VAENI Naousa has signed a deal to export 3.6mn bottles of wine per year to China. The deal covers a period of 10 years and is equivalent to 300 containers of wine per year. The move is a significant shot in the arm for the Greek wine industry, which has struggled to grow in international markets in recent years and has also been affected by a drop in domestic consumption (see chart). 3.6mn bottles equates to 2.7mn litres and represents around 8% of Greece's average annual wine exports, with exports having stagnated at around 34mn litres
