Walmart Ramping Up Expansion; Price Pressure Likely To Intensify

US-based retailer Walmart has provided details of its sizeable expansion plans for the Canadian market. Over the next 12 months the firm plans to invest CAD750mn to open 73 stores. Of these, 39 are former Zeller stores acquired in June 2011. Walmart revealed that at least half of the 73 units would be Supercenters with a full fresh-food offering.
