Lebanon's Sugar Debate Rages On

In an effort to cut back on public spending, the government has been looking to phase out these very costly subsidies, but has met continued resistance from farmers. The farmers feel alienated by a government whom they see as not prioritising agriculture, while the government feels that the current system is rotten and inefficient.
