Zimbabwe Sells Smallest Tobacco Crop In 34 Years

The Zimbabwean tobacco industry has historically been one of the country's most important, accounting for around 50% of Zimbabwe's foreign currency earnings, with around 700,000 people dependent on tobacco for their living. For decades, Zimbabwean tobacco was coveted by blenders as amongst the finest in the world, and represented a reliable and lucrative pillar to the export sector, with the country rated third behind the US and Brazil in tobacco exports. However, the tobacco industry has experienced a major decline in recent years, and is now by any measure, a complete mess.
