September 2006 | Industry NewsAfter months of teetering on the edge of collapse, the Doha round of World Trade Organisation (WTO) negotiations finally did so on July 24th. After yet another fruitless meeting in Geneva, Director General Pascal Lamy decided to suspend negotiations, with no date set for their resumption. Many were quick to point fingers, particularly in Washington and Brussels, while lamenting the failure of what was meant to be the 'pro-poor' round and make globalisation more inclusive and beneficial for the world's developing economies. But what does the collapse mean for the Middle Eastern states?
