IFC Funds Mercator Expansion in Bosnia

Mercator, the largest retailer in the former Yugoslavia, has received a EUR40mn (US$51mn) loan from the International Finance Corporation to fund expansion in Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as further growth in Serbia. Mercator's push into Bosnia underlines its ambition to become the leading food retailer in the former Yugoslavia whilst lining up Slovenian, Serbian and Croatian groups to establish control over Bosnia's food retail
