EU Supports Thailand's Organic Production

In an effort to boost Thailand's organic production, the European Union has formed an action plan for the increase of organic exports from Thailand to Europe. As European consumers are becoming increasingly health-conscious, there is a growing demand for organic produce; the region's organic sector is estimated to be worth US$23mn and is growing by 145% each year. The Asia Trust Fund, an EU-supported fund that provides trade-related assistance to developing Asian countries, will invest THB7.8mn (US$192,400) for exporters looking to meet EU food safety and organic certification requirements.
