Tough Times For Turkey's Farmers, Though Industry's Future Looks Bright
October 2006 | Industry NewsThe Turkish government has announced that it is looking to attract greater investment into is all-important agricultural sector, as the country looks to create a greater base for exports to Europe, the Caucasus and the Middle East. The government is hoping to do this through the Ceylanpınar Agricultural Enterprise, located in the south-eastern province of Şanlıurfa, a 176,237 hectare area of land which is owned by Turkey's Agricultural Enterprises General Directorate (TIGEM) and leased to the private sector. The Minister of Agriculture and Rural affairs has said that they are hoping for American investment into hi-tech facilities such cold air,
