Auchan Inches Towards Ukraine

Ukraine's mass grocery retail (MGR) market is developing rapidly but until now has been an island of local development in a Central and Eastern European (CEE) landscape dominated by Western European retailers. Now, multiple sources in Ukraine report that French hypermarket chain Auchan is negotiating the purchase of a plot of land in the outskirts of the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv adjacent to Borispol airport. If the reports are accurate, and the head of French Economic Mission to Ukraine appeared to confirm ongoing negotiations in quotes attributed to him by the local business paper Delo, Auchan could be on course
