Danone Launches Innovative JV In Bangladesh
October 2006 | FDI AlertInternational dairy giant Danone has announced that it will make a major investment into Bangladesh, illustrating its commitment to emerging markets. Danone has announced that it will test out a new business model in Bangladesh which is designed to meet the needs of the estimated 3bn consumers in developing countries who live on less than US$2 a day. The company has established a 50:50 joint venture with Grameen, a bank which specialises in micro-credit, and is therefore known as the 'Bank for the Poor.'
