Wal-Mart Stores has been publicly reassessing the shape and size of its global footprint over the last few days, cutting here and adding there as it looks to create a new form for the coming years. The headline results from the exercise are that some markets will be abandoned entirely, like Korea and Germany; others will see less investment than planned, such as the US; and still others, notably those in Latin America, will receive more attention, with wider and deeper investment
