Olímpica Purchases La Galería As Merger Whispers Spread

The latest twist in one of the region's most competitive retail markets was announced last week. Barranquilla-based Olímpica, Colombia's fourth largest retailer, has agreed the purchase of La Galería supermarket chain, which has stores in and around Cali in the south-western Valle del Cauca region of the country. As well as in Cali, it has outlets in the cities of Cartago and Palmira.
