Savola Group Further Expands Sugar Production

As demand for sugar in the Middle East has grown, local producers have been rushing to increase sugar production for both the international and local market. Saudi Arabian food major Savola Group has announced that it plans to open a second sugar refinery in Egypt in mid-2007 as well as expand its Saudi operations. At a recent world sugar conference held in the UAE, Mohammad Hassan Ajlan, president of Savola's sugar division said: 'The disappearance of EU sugar from this market is an opportunity for us.'
