Aldi Set To Enter Greek Discount Sector

German discounter Aldi, Europe's biggest discount grocery chain, has announced that it is planning to invest around EUR700mn (US$923.8mn) in the Greek market, to create a network of 370 stores. Aldi has not yet announced whether it will embark on this expansion with the Hoder or Aldi banner, or the time frame for market entry. Aldi currently owns more than 6,600 stores in Europe and reported a 2005 turnover of EUR 32.3bn (US$42.4bn).
