FAO Encouraging Greater Safety Measures for Bird Flu
March 2007 | Industry NewsBird flu has become a major concern in Nigeria, with the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) urging the country to increase its control measures on poultry farms and markets, to curb the spread of the virus. The virus has currently been detected in at least 19 of the country's 36 states, and the first human death from the flu was reported in February. This outbreak has naturally had a major effect on the country's food and agricultural industry.
