SABMiller Investment Up To Offset AmBev Threat
March 2007 | Company Finance AlertAnglo-South African brewing giant SABMiller has confirmed that it will exceed the US$102mn invested in its Peruvian subsidiary in 2006, throughout 2007, as it seeks to stave of competition from the Latin American subsidiary of Belgian behemoth InBev. SABMiller acquired Peruvian market leader Backus y Johnston in 2005 when it purchased Colombia's Bavaria. With Peru, thanks to its low existing beer consumption levels but high forecast growth rates, one of Latin America's most exciting beer markets, InBev would be loath to leak market share to its global rival
