UK retail behemoth Tesco is no stranger to controversy. The central protagonist of the UK Competition Commission's on-going inquiry into the UK's grocery retail sector, the operator that accounts for almost one-third of organised grocery retail sales in the country, and the reported destroyer of British high streets up and down the land, Tesco has more than its share of detractors. But is criticism of Tesco's dominance just, or is the company suffering in the way its US counterpart Wal-Mart suffered, and taking the fall for the collective sins of the broader grocery retail industry?
