Arla Streamlines As Global Dairy Competition Intensifies

Danish and Swedish dairy co-operative Arla Foods has revealed that it is to sell its fresh pasta manufacturing unit, Pastella, to food processor Beauvais for an undisclosed sum. While Pastella, which had a turnover of just DKK130mn (US$23.81mn) in 2006, represents only a small part of Arla's business, BMI believes that its sale, and Arla's motivation, reveals much about the current state of the global dairy marketplace and Arla's competitive position within it.
