Carrefour Undeterred By Inflation Control Measures

French retail major Carrefour has confirmed that it will not suspend its ARS4.6bn (US$1.49bn) three-year investment plan for Argentina in spite of the continuation of government price controls, which are jeopardising retailer profitability in the country. The willingness of multinationals to invest in Argentina, regardless of restrictions over one of the most important elements of business strategy, represents a triumph for the government and demonstrates the potential of the Argentine mass grocery retail (MGR) sector.
