German retailer Tengelmann has made the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region a focus in its expansion drive, particularly as the German retail market continues to prove highly competitive. The company has stated that it plans to strengthen its focus on expansions throughout 2007, with a particular emphasis on the CEE. The company's European CEO Karl-Erivan Haub has said that the region is an obvious key target for the foreign expansion programme, as it looks to expands into various store formats such as DIY and clothing discounters.
