Fisheries Industry Thriving According To Government Figures
May 2007 | Industry NewsThe Kuwaiti government has recently released figures for the country's fisheries sector that reflect how important this industry is becoming to Kuwait's food industry. According to the Ministry of Planning, fish quantities sold by wholesale reached 13,586 tonnes in 2006, with an estimated value of US$63.6mn. Fish companies, which catch a wide variety of fish, sold 1,297 tonnes, worth over US$3.4mn, while the fish farming industry, which consisted of 135 farms in 2006, produced 611 tonnes of fish.
