Whole Foods Reveals European Ambitions

With Whole Foods' first UK store having opened to a fanfare of publicity in London's Kensington, the US-based organic and ethical foods retailer has now set its sights on wider European expansion. Now just 105 stores away from its 2010 target of 300 US outlets, the company has ambitiously stated that it sees no reason why a similar sized network cannot be established across Europe - a market 'around the same size'. However, BMI believes that the company's excitement might be a little misjudged, with the cultural and geographic challenges of Europe a far cry from even the diverse US
