Private Label Retailing Slowly Taking Hold
June 2007 | Market OverviewPrivate-label retailing - the means through which modern grocery retailers manufacture, market and sell produce under their own retail brand name throughout their stores, is not currently widespread in the Middle East. While some parts of the world, own label product sales amount to more than 40% of total food and drink sales, currently, in the Middle East, they are estimated to account for 3-4% of sales, which, although is not hugely significant, is set to increase. According to a study from AC Nielsen, 'Power of Private Label 2005', the regional value of private-label sales will increase by 15% through 2006, outstripping the global average.
