Arla's Regional Sales Back to 95% of Pre-Boycott Level

Finally, almost two years following its crisis in the Middle East, Danish dairy company Arla Foods has reported that its regional sales volume has recovered back to 95% of sales prior to the boycott. However, sales in Saudi Arabia, a key market for the company, were back to just 83% of pre-boycott levels, well behind the rest of the region. The boycott of Danish goods followed the controversy surrounding the publication of cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohamed by a Danish newspaper, which many Muslims found highly offensive.
