Discounters Invade Switzerland
February 2008 | Company News AlertThe Financial Times Deutschland has reported that German discounter Lidl is preparing to open its first outlets in Switzerland in the autumn of 2008. The paper suggests that around 50 construction projects are currently underway to cater for the firm's stores and distribution facilities and around 30 stores are expected to be opened in the first expansion wave. Lidl's move into Switzerland follows in the footsteps of arch-rival Aldi which entered in 2005 and now operates around 58 stores in the country.
