Tesco Fined By Competition Commission
February 2008 | Company News AlertUK retailer Tesco's Hungarian operations have been fined by the country's competition commission for misleading customers in its advertisements in 2007. The Hungarian competition watchdog, GVH, ruled that Tesco advertised certain products to be sold at reduced prices which were then not available in some or all of the company's stores, fining the company HUF100mn (US$0.57mn). The GVH said Tesco had been in breach of the law several times in similar incidents over the past five years but had taken serious measures to restore lawful operations.
