Nestlé's Focus On Innovation
February 2008 | Company Finance AlertSwitzerland-based Nestlé, the world's largest food company, has reported sales of CHF107.6bn (US$98.9bn) for 2007, representing a healthy 9.2% increase on the previous year. Even more impressively the firm has reported a 12.9% increase in earnings (before interest and tax), to reach CHF15.0bn (US$13.8bn). This very strong growth suggests that the firm's focus on innovation, particularly in the healthy-eating and functional food categories, has allowed it to shoulder commodity price increases that have dented profits at less innovative food firms. With one of the largest R&D budgets of any food company this constant innovation should allow Nestlé to continue growing
