Government Calling For Greater MGR Investment
March 2008 | Industry NewsLatvia's Finance Minister is calling for greater investment in the country's mass grocery retail (MGR) sector to provide a much-needed boost to competition levels. Atis Slakteris has deemed the state of competition in the MGR sector 'pathetic', urging the government to look for ways to support the launch of a new chain for the benefit of both consumers and food and drink producers, who enjoy little bargaining power under the current levels of competition.
