Mega Image Makes Local Acquisition

Romanian retailer Mega Image, owned by Belgium's Delhaize Group, has announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire the La Fourmi supermarket network. Majority-owned by Greek private equity fund Global Finance, La Fourmi operates a chain of 14 supermarkets in the capital Bucharest. This acquisition will therefore allow Mega Image to significantly increase its store network from its existing 22 stores, 19 of which are located in the capital, with another two in Constanta and one in Ploiesti.
