FEMSA Set To Expand Oxxo Across Latin America
April 2008 | Company News AlertFomento Económico Mexicano (FEMSA), which operates 5500 Oxxo-bannered convenience stores in Mexico, has announced plans to expand the chain internationally. The firm will initially conduct a pilot in Colombia opening around 30 stores in the next 12 to 18 months before a possible roll out across the rest of Latin America. The firm is hoping to capitalise on the fact that Colombia has no formal chain of convenience stores; however, the new stores will have to compete against very well-established neighbourhood stores and one of the most modern supermarket sectors anywhere in Latin
