Czech Cheese Imports Surge

Thanks to a growing domestic demand, cheese imports to the Czech Republic are growing, while domestic production is declining, according to a recent report by the Agriculture Ministry. While cheese imports rose by 33% year-on-year, cheese production decreased by 3%, and consumption rose by 14%, indicating that this drop in production is not due to a decrease in local demand. In fact, cheese production in the country has been dropping for some time, with a 7% decrease recorded between 2003 and 2006.
