Thai Exporters Confident Of Riding Out Rice Storm
April 2008 | Industry NewsThailand, the world's leading rice exporter and its sixth largest producer, has revealed that an anticipated drop in exports in the second quarter will not prevent it from reaching its 2008 export target of 8.75mn tonnes. Export restrictions in leading export markets have seen demand for rice, one of Asia's most important basic foodstuffs, soar in early 2008, prompting Thai exporters to move to quell fears that it too would look to reduce exports in a bid to protect domestic
