Tesco Targets Slovakia and Hungary For Further Growth

UK retail giant Tesco has announced a new wave of expansions for the Polish and Slovakian markets, as it invests further in strengthening its position in these countries. Tesco Polska, the company's Polish unit, has announced its plans to invest PLN480mn (US$223.1mn) this year in opening 50 new outlets and hiring 3,000 new employees. The majority of these new outlets will be of the smaller store format rather than the bigger hypermarket variety. The company has also said that it will invest PLN70mn in additional wages, training and improving labour safety. Meanwhile, in Slovakia Tesco is looking to open 15
