Lidl To Exit Market?
May 2008 | Company News AlertRumours are swirling that Schwarz Group-run retailer Lidl is looking to exit the Polish market. According to local press reports, Lidl is looking for a buyer for its 260-strong discount store network, with a number of local operators supposedly considering the acquisition. Although Lidl has firmly denied the rumours, saying that they are completely unfounded, its recent withdrawal from the Norwegian mass grocery retail (MGR) market has fuelled speculation that it is on the out, with many wondering who could snap up Lidl's stores and how this will impact the competitive landscape.
