Starbucks Enters Argentina
June 2008 | Company News AlertOn May 30 US-based coffee shop chain Starbucks opened its first outlet in Argentina and revealed it could open up to four outlets in the country by the end of the year. The firm already has operations in seven Latin American countries, including neighbouring Brazil and Chile but has steered clear of Argentina because of the high prevalence of local independent coffee houses. However, with the firm's domestic growth stalling, due to market saturation and the US economic downturn, the firm is now having to pursue growth in international markets that may have once been viewed as too
