South Korea's Lotte Sweet On Russia

South Korean confectionery giant Lotte Confectionery Co has announced its plans to invest US$85mn in its first Russian confectionery plant. While the company has been present in the Russian market since 1995, this will be its first local production facility in this high-growth market. The new factory will produce Xylitol chewing gum and other sweets such as Dream Pie. Located in Obinsk in the Kaluga region, construction on the site is expected to be finished by September 2009, with more possible expansion plans on the cards.
