Bel Moves Forward With Double Acquisition

Czech competition authorities have given clearance for French cheese maker Fromageries Bel Group to move forward with its acquisition of two local cheese manufacturers, Jaromericka Mlekarna and J+R. Bel reached a deal to acquire the two companies in April of this year, but was waiting for the green light from the anti-trust committee, who has now ruled that the acquisition would not create a substantial distortion of competition. The deal will allow Bel to significantly strengthen its foothold in the burgeoning CEE dairy market.
