Stolichnaya Could Become Subject Of A Bidding War

SPI, the Russian group that controls the distribution rights for Stolichnaya vodka is reportedly exploring its options for the brand. According to the Financial Times, the firm has appointed Lehman Brothers as an advisor, a move which would indicate that it is considering a full sale. However, with the Russian state still laying claim to the distribution rights in the domestic market and ownership of the brand still a contentious issue, any buyer will need get confirmation of ownership from the Russian government or face a future filled with expensive legal
