June 2008 | Industry NewsThe Philippines today hosts its first ever National Halal Convention, bringing together representatives from seven government ministries in an effort to exploit growing demand for halal certified foodstuffs, both domestically and regionally. The government is looking to provide better support to local halal food producers, enabling them to meet the needs of an estimated 8mn Muslims living in the Philippines, not to mention a Muslim audience of around 14mn and 195mn living in the neighbouring markets of Malaysia and Indonesia,
