Aldi Preparing For Market Entry

According to reports in the local Greek press, Germany-based discount operator Aldi is preparing to open its first stores in the country in September or October this year. The firm is reportedly planning to open 40 stores by the end of the year and aims to create a network of 370 stores. However, with several other discount retailers in the country struggling or moving their store format upmarket, BMI believes Aldi may find it difficult to compete in the crowded Greek retail
