Agrana Sweet On Expansions

July 2008 | Company News Alert

Austrian-based sugar, fruit and starch producer Agrana Group has finished the expansion of its Hungarian production facilities, a 50-50 joint venture with Eaststarch C.V., and now operates the largest producer of corn starch and isoglucose in Europe. Meanwhile, Agrana has also partnered with Austria's Studen & Co to build a sugar refinery in Bosnia Herzegovina, the first in the country, which had been importing all of its sugar in recent years. These investments will help Agrana further consolidate its already strong position in Europe's quickly consolidating sugar sector.
