Farmers Threaten Protests

Lebanon's farmers are once again butting heads with their government, threatening to stage protests if the government does not reverse its decision to cancel what is known as the Export Plus Programme. Introduced by the Investment Development Authority of Lebanon several years ago, the programme was meant to increase Lebanese agricultural exports, create new markets for Lebanese farmers, control the quality of agricultural products to ensure compliance with international standards and transfer knowledge to local farmers.
